Dr. Hala Helal

 

is a Lecturer of Microbiology and Immunology at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Drug Technology at Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development. She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy-Cairo University in 2010 and earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology at Cairo University in 2018. Her research interests are inspired by the sustainable development goals. She has been recently working on two projects, one of them is about the application of Spirulina platensis in Circular economy, while the goal of the other project is the identification and characterization of microorganisms and microbial communities participating in the degradation of petroleum-based plastics. 

Dr. Hala believes in the importance of thinking beyond narrow academic disciplines. She completed a Euro-Mediterranean Entrepreneurship Diploma at Emuni University, Piran (Slovenia) which helped her to enhance her entrepreneurial thinking and project management. Also, she has participated in many extracurricular activities; she was a global volunteer at AIESEC-Morocco in 2017 to help Moroccan women in marketing their handcrafts.

Dr. Hala has two publications in the field of Microbiology and Immunology including:

1- “Mining Red Sea microbiota for antimicrobial activity and their potential application in nanoparticles-based combinations”.

2- “Tobramycin-Silver Nanocomposite: A New Trend of Antimicrobials against Resistant Strains”
