Wael M. Khairy is Head of the Civil Engineering Department (Water Program), Faculty of Engineering, Heliopolis University. He was born in Egypt in 1967. Previously, hworked as Associate Professor at the National Water Research Center of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Science from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of New Orleans, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA in 2000. Earlier he got his B.Sc. & M.Sc. from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt. He has a blend of academic, managerial, strategic, technical, communication and operational experiences developed over a career spanning about 30 years. He has working experiences in hydrology, environmental engineering, irrigation and drainage, water quality, climate change, river engineering, unconventional water use in agriculture, transboundary rivers & international waters, basin-wide strategic planning and hydro-politics and negotiations. He held the position of Assistant Professor at the Hydrology and Remote Sensing Center at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama, USA. He taught for graduate and undergraduate students and supervised a number of graduates in their M.Sc. and PhD. in Egypt and USA. He is the author/co-author of about 20 published journal papers worldwide (Google Scholars: Wael M. Khairy). He acted as reviewer to a number of rated scientific journals.
