[:en]In the scope of the ongoing events of the Space of Culture, Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development hosted an art exhibition by the Egyptian artist Lina Osama. In the light of the first autumn sun, large paintings were shining at the walls of the main hall of the Business Department; mainly portraits drawn on abstract, yet colorful backgrounds. Every painting tells a story out of life of the contemporary visual artist. “SEKEM is very important for me. I first came here in 2006 with my professor Mohamed Abla and met the Founder, Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish, who deeply appreciated arts,” said Lina Osama during her inaugural speech. “SEKEM supported me in the beginning of my career by funding my first scholarship at the Salzburg International Summer Academy for Fine Arts in Austria.” Living Units of Humanity Besides, Lina Osama studied Egyptology and Painting at Cairo University. Meanwhile, she participated in more than 40 exhibitions in Egypt, Austria, France and Morocco. Together with friends, the artist has founded a series of exhibitions entitled “Living Units of Humanity’’. “The idea of that project was triggered by the incidence of the Egyptian revolution. During this period, I noticed the necessity of building bridges between people of different ideologies and backgrounds to foster a peaceful society,” Lina Osama explained. Hence, her vivid paintings reflect humans as equal units of life despite their diversity. During the event at the campus of Heliopolis University, the 30-years-old Egyptian artist explained how her passion for painting portraits has been formed: “Already during my childhood I loved studying faces. When I then stayed for two years in England with my family, I began drawing the faces of my Egyptian friends and neighbours, whom I missed.” The audience, who were students and staff from Heliopolis University, as well as some of SEKEMs employees, listened her stories carefully. One of the participants questioned with curiosity the baby’s portrait, which appeared repeatedly in the artist’s paintings. “This is my two-years-old daughter, Gamila”, Lina Osama said with a smile. “I see her resembling a hopeful future, which all of us are are able to create too.” Deep Belief in Humanity Next to her daughter, the young artist also portraited of her husband, Mhanny Yaoud, who is a visual artist as well. The couple has started together an artistic proceeding project under the name “The Shared Space”, in which both of them share their styles on the same canvas. Lina Osama paints mostly using mixed media, “always with a colorful palette that never lacks the colors of nature: Green, Brown and Blue.” After her speech, the painter sat with some attendees to discuss her artworks more into detail. She described her motives and feelings behind each painting, which were influenced by her pregnancy, motherhood and her deep belief in humanity. With the exhibition, Lina Osama did not only address many topics that the people could relate to, but mainly stressed on the meaning of unity and diversity as well as the potential of the future – exactly those impulses that the Space of Cultures aims to stress on in its different activities. Opening of the Space of Cultures [:ar]في إطار فعاليات ساحة الثقافة المجراة حاليًا، استضافت جامعة هليوبوليس للتنمية المستدامة معرضا فنيا للفنانة المصرية لينا أسامة. في ضوء أول شمسٍ للخريف، كانت اللوحات الكبيرة مشرقة على جدران القاعة الرئيسية بمبنى قسم إدارة الأعمال بالجامعة. فقد كانت لوحات ذات صور مرسومة لأشخاص على خلفيات تجريدية ملونة. كل لوحة تحكي قصة من حياة الفنانة التشكيلية المعاصرة، لينا أسامة. وقد صرّحت الفنانة في خطابها الافتتاحي قائلة: “سيكم عزيزة جدًا على قلبي. جئت لأول مرة هنا في عام 2006 مع أستاذي محمد عبلة والتقينا بالمؤسس الدكتور إبراهيم أبوالعيش، الذي أعرب عن تقديره العميق للفنون”. وأضافت: “لقد دعمتني في بداية مسيرتي الفنية من خلال تمويل أول منحة دراسية لي في الأكاديمية الصيفية زالتسبورج الدولية للفنون الجميلة في النمسا”. وحدات فنية حية للإنسانية إلى جانب ذلك، درست لينا أسامة المصريات والفنون الجميلة في جامعة القاهرة. وفي الوقت نفسه، شاركت في أكثر من 40 معرضًا في مصر والنمسا وفرنسا والمغرب. وجنبًا إلى جنب مع أصدقائها أسست الفنانة سلسلة من المعارض بعنوان “وحدات فنية حية للإنسانية”. تقول لينا: “وجاءت فكرة هذا المشروع بعد اندلاع الثورة المصرية. خلال هذه الفترة، لاحظت ضرورة بناء الجسور بين ذوي الأيديولوجيات والخلفيات المختلفة لتعزيز مجتمع سلمي متحضر”. ومن هنا تعكس لوحاتها الحية مختلف البشر كوحدات متساوية في الحياة على الرغم من تنوعها. وخلال هذا الحدث الذي أقيم في حرم جامعة هليوبوليس، أوضحت الفنانة المصرية ذات الـ30 عاما كيف تم تشكيل حبها لرسم وجوه الأشخاص: ’’لقد أحببت في طفولتي تأمل الوجوه. وعندما سافرت إلى إنجلترا مع عائلتي وبقيت هناك لعامين، شرعت في رسم وجوه أصدقائي وجيراني المصريين الذين افتقدتهم‘‘. وبقصص لينا التي روتها استمتع الجمهور، الذي ضم طلبة وموظفين من جامعة هليوبوليس إلى جانب البعض من موظفي سيكم. وتساءل أحد المشاركين بفضول عن صورة الطفل التي ظهرت بشكل متكرر في لوحاتها. وقالت لينا أسامة بابتسامة لطيفة: ’’إنها ابنتي ذات العامين. اسمها جميلة‘‘. وأضافت: ’’أراها تشبه مستقبل ذا أملٍ – المستقبل الذي يستطيع كل شخص منا أن يشكّله‘‘. الإيمان العميق بالإنسانية بجانب ابنتها، ترسم لينا في بعض لوحاتها صورة لزوجها الشاب مهنّي ياؤود، وهو فنان تشكيلي أيضًا. وقد بدأ الزوجان معا مشروع فني مستمر تحت اسم “سطح مشترك”، والذي يشارك فيه كلاهما برسمهم على نفس اللوحات. وتستخدم لينا أسامة في أغلب الأحيان أوساط مختلطة في الرسم، “ولكن لوحة ألوانيِ لا يمكن أن ينقصها ألوان الطبيعة: الأخضر والبني والأزرق”، بحسب تعبيرها. وبعد كلمتها الافتتاحية، جلست الفنانة مع بعض الحضور لمناقشة أعمالها الفنية بتفاصيل أكثر، حيث وصفت دوافعها ومشاعرها وراء كل لوحة، والتي تأثرت بالحمل والأمومة وإيمانها العميق بالإنسانية. ومن خلال هذا المعرض الفني، لم تتناول لينا مناقشة بعض الموضوعات مع الجمهور فحسب، بل أنها أكدت من خلال لوحاتها معنى الوحدة والتنوع، فضلا عن ما ننتظره بأمل في المستقبل – بالضبط كتلك الدوافع التي تهدف ساحة الثقافة إلى إبرازها في أنشطتها المختلفة. كريستين أرلت/نهى حسين افتتاح ساحة الثقافة لمحة عن فعاليات سيكم [:]
