Professor Osama Abd Elmohaymen Montasser is the Head of the Department of Mechatronics at the Faculty of Engineering, Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development since September 2017 till now. He is also a Professor of Control and Mechatronics at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University. In addition, he is currently the Head of the Control and Instrumentation Department at Blue Power Company for Renewable Energy Systems Research, Design, and Consultancy since 2012.

Prof. Montasser got his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Mechano-Informatics Department, University of Tokyo, Japan in 1994. He continued for one year till 1995 as a Guest Researcher at the Energy Technology Research Institute, Tokyo Gas Company.

Prof. Montasser was the Head of the Mechatronics Department at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the Egyptian Chinese University between September 2015 and September 2017. He also joined the Mechatronics Focus Section in the Mechanical Engineering Department, British University in Egypt from September 2011 till September 2015.

In 1997, he initiated the first Mechatronic Laboratory in the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University. The laboratory is now being used for teaching the Introduction to Mechatronics course and for performing many research works and projects in the same field.

In 2000, Prof. Montasser was rewarded a Certificate of Merit from the faculty’s Dean for his efforts in reactivating an unused old fashioned laboratory for process control. The laboratory became fully automated through personal computers provided with data acquisition cards. He constructed the required control software and interfacing digital electronic circuits.

From 2005-2009, he was a member of the Tempus Project, (MEDA_JEP-32050-2004-EKATRON) for creating a new Mechatronics major at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University with regard to establishing its educational curricula and labs necessities.

Prof. Montasser has +20 years of experience in teaching different undergraduate and graduate, theoretical and applied courses in fields of automatic control, mechatronics, and measurements & instrumentation for mechanics and mechatronics’ students. He also has long experience in consultancy service in control, mechatronics, and instrumentation applications.

Prof. Montasser published more than 27 papers in national and international journals and conferences. He is also member of the Egyptian Engineering Consultants Syndicate.
