The Core Program at Heliopolis University organized for the first time a nutrition course for the students. The course discussed many topics related to healthy diet such as studying the nutrition basics, macro and micro nutrients, how our body works, food labels, the challenge of choosing food, and healthy meal planning.

“Teaching students the benefits of healthy eating for maintaining health and disease prevention and the impact of nutrition and their food choice on sustainable development was the objective of this course.” says Dr. Gihan Rabeh, the Project Director at the Biomedical Research Department of Heliopolis University.

The curriculum was designed in cooperation with Dr Katrin Bieber and Dr Meinrad Milz, the renowned German nutrition counselors. Dr. Bieber held a webinar for the university students under the title “The Membrane Stabilizing Diet – Why it Works, How you should Eat and What it Consists of”. Membrane Stabilizing Diet is the optimum diet that has been used by physicians worldwide to help their patients through the healing process and to achieve optimal health.

After her online lecture, Dr. Bieber sent a message to Heliopolis University staff members and students saying:

My husband Dr. Meinrad Milz and I are very pleased and happy that one of the many visions and wishes of Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish, Founder and Visionary, came true with the nutrition course this semester and my webinar last week! Dr. Gihan Rabeh put together a very comprehensive and informative curriculum that I had the pleasure to initiate with an intensive discussion on one of my last visits to Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish.  Dr Gihan just taught the first course and in my lecture I wanted to summarize and motivate the students to take the new knowledge home to their families and customers to be. They are the future and with understanding, change to the better happens.

After the course, the students organized an awareness campaign next to the building of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Drug Technology to share the knowledge they gained about healthy eating and they also served healthy dishes to help students better understand the healthy diet and its components.

“At the course the students gained a new vision about food: what to eat and how we eat it; so they can  spread the idea of healthy eating in the community,” says Dr. Gihan Rabeh. “I am so happy and proud that we could realize one of Dr. Ibrahim’s wishes.”
