Heliopolis University at BIOFACH 2019

Last February, Heliopolis University students and staff members participated in BIOFACH 2019 in Nuremberg, Germany. BIOFACH is the world’s largest trade fair for organic food and agriculture. It is held each year in the month of February and brings together around 2,950 exhibitors and more than 50,000 visitors.

Heliopolis University pharmacy students were glad to represent their university in the exhibition. They also went to support SEKEM as Heliopolis University’s founding institution and one of the largest exhibitors in BIOFACH 2019.

Islam Ibrahim, final year pharmacy student and former Vice President of HU Student Union, is one of HU delegates who always dreamed of travelling around the world and mingle with the international community.

“It was a great opportunity for me to attend BIOFACH and see how organic community is becoming significantly large. I visited Frankfurt, Germany’s business hub, and Berlin as well in which our University President Professor M. Youssri Hashem has thankfully guided us in a remarkable tour to the Egyptian and technology museums and other amazing sights,” says Islam.

Beside Islam, Heliopolis University’s delegates included both students and staff members. The students were Mohamed Lotfi, Mohamed Hesham, Mina Gamil, and Fady Nader. The staff members were Mohamed Ibrahim and Yara Abo El Magd, Assistant Lecturers of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Pharmacy.

“Every moment of our short trip carried a lot of comfort and advantage. Main River was one the most wonderful scenes I witnessed in Frankfurt. It was really charming.

In BIOFACH, I got to know a diversity of organic types of food and spices. What made the trip so special was Dr. Youssri who was so enthusiastic to show us the German lifestyle. It was a new experience for me. I enjoyed it a lot and what I liked most is the organized life of the Germans,” says Mina Gamil, final year pharmacy student at Heliopolis University.
